1

Preparation and signing of paperwork
Cremation documents are prepared for your signing online and can be completed on a computer, tablet or phone. This will authorize us to transfer your loved one into our care and authorize the cremation.

2

Transfer
We transfer your loved one into our care to prepare for cremation. Care home, hospice, and private home transfers can be done before signing of the cremation paperwork. Additional fees apply for transfers outside of our regular service area (Squamish and Chilliwack).

3

Death registration and cremation
The death registration is completed with Vital Statistics and the cremation permit is issued which authorizes the cremation. Once the cremation is complete, the cremated remains are processed with paperwork to finalize the process.

4

Delivery of ashes
Our staff will hand deliver the cremated remains and death certificates to you within our regular service area. Additional fees apply for out of service area deliveries and mailing of cremated remains.

FAQ's

How are you different from other cremation providers?
  • We are a private, family-owned business with no affiliation to other funeral homes and memorial societies. Learn more about us HERE
  • We don't engage in two-tier pricing where you receive one price from the parent company and another cheaper price from their cremation service
  • We offer one low, affordable price which many funeral homes will match, except our price started that low
  • We don't upsell the expensive extras and ONLY provide you what you ask for because that's Basic.
How else are you different?
  • We don't require payment up-front or a deposit! We prefer you pay us once we've completed our service
  • You can pay us upon delivery of the ashes to you or just prior to delivery
  • We accept E-Transfers, personal cheques, bank drafts, or cash - no credit cards to keep the price low!
How Long Does it take?

Under normal circumstances, we will have delivery of the ashes and death certificate within 10 days from the day:

  1. Cremation documents are signed
  2. Your loved one is transferred to the crematory
  3. The doctor or coroner has sent us the medical certificate of death, whichever is later

What are the costs?

A Basic Cremation Inc. costs significantly less with just one basic package. There are optional extras that will incur additional fees but aren't required - to learn more, see our 'Basic Package' page

What Our Families are Saying

I am very relieved and glad I found A Basic Cremation on google search after all.
I have inquired other funeral homes and felt discouraged and disappointed because they were just bunch of money grabbers with very friendly smiles. Be careful. It can be deceiving when you are emotional after losing a loved one.
Some reviews mentioned Preston, the owner, was rude and not personal because he went straight to a full detailed information and lots of it at once in terms of what next... he wasn't rude, he was giving an honest and very accurate steps without the fake small talks and smiles. Honestly, I found that very important especially when I was emotional and overwhelmed with my beloved grandmother's passing. I needed to know I am not being taken advantage of. Preston and his team have provided a caring service with respect and dignity by committing to only an honest and cost effective service. If you are searching for a simple cremation to trust your loved one to the final step, look no further. Our family is grateful for their patience too as we have made a few last minute changes and they were simply done for us. I hope this can help other families in their search. God Bless!

Preston was so much help in dealing with my mothers death, he was very caring, professional , and helped with things i have coming after the fact, 5 star all the way, eternally grateful to sir, god bless.
I am truly pleased with the services provided by Preston and his team. First of all he was up front with what services would be provided and the costs. The were no extras or upselling of any sort. Most importantly, Preston made the whole process extremely smooth, and I felt he takes a genuine interest in helping, treating us with compassion, and the departed with dignity. Thank you on behalf of our family.
